to the lake
THE INTERPLAY OF WIND AND LAKE. Not only the lake, but also the wind
shapes the unique microclimate of the Neusiedlersee region. As one of the
windiest areas of mainland Europe, it benefits from steady
air currents from the northwest. They bring freshness, carry the cool,
slightly salty lake air inland in the evenings, and thus promote fruit, acidity, and balance.
At the same time, they extend the late summer and, together with fog and moisture,
favor noble rot in autumn. This results in wines with
freshness, depth, expression, and that unmistakable typicity that helps define NEUSIEDLERSEE
DAC.
