Sweet kingdom

Sweet gold from the lake
Year after year, the Neusiedlersee region is transformed into a kingdom for sweet wine through an almost magical interplay of special microclimatic conditions. It is this unique microclimatic diversity that makes the sweet gold as NEUSIEDLERSEE DAC so unique. The foundation for these internationally acclaimed sweet wines lies in a rarely occurring noble rot – Botrytis cinerea. It is the result of climatic consistency and the humidity for which the lake is largely responsible.

GOOD TO KNOW: Sweet wines from Lake Neusiedl have a long history: As early as the 16th century, noble sweet wines were produced here. Later they were considered a precious luxury good at European courts and were particularly valued and promoted by the nobility. This allowed the region to establish itself early as an origin of great sweet wines – long before their court fame there.
